There's a lot of interest in RuneScape available on iOS and Android. The game has more than 1.8 million players have pre-registered to play the games, which have a mobile-friendly user interface which has been redesigned menus including icons OSRS Gold, text, and textures. The company has filed two trademarks in UK one with the title "OSRS Gold" and the other for "RS Gold", with the filing noting that the company has registered the use of the phrases as words. This could prevent third-party websites from having the ability to promote their sale of RS Gold.
A quick Google search on either returns hundreds of websites, majority of them with one of these terms in their URLs. Many of them offer money in RuneScape in exchange for real money. This came after the announcement on the 13th of October that Jagex had put an end with "real-world trade". In a blog post on its blog "The RuneScape Team" explained that "gold bought through RWT real-world trading poses a threat to any online game with currencies that can be traded."
Jagex says it will start sending "messages to players we've identified as engaging in the RWT" within "the coming hours". "For anyone who has been involved, we want to be clear that this is the single and only warning," said the statement.
