MMOexp was informed that the league offered the license for auction and it was reported that EA was one of up to five software publishers that were competing for the license. A EA spokesperson today said, "Obviously, buy madden 23 coins exclusives are more expensive. We certainly are paying for a premium."

In the statement, Larry Probst, chairman and CEO of Electronic Arts said, "We are delighted about the chance to strengthen our relationship to the NFL as well as PLAYERS INC. The five-year agreement will guide NFL players through the transition of console technology with fresh ideas and exciting games play experiences."

The deal is clearly not good news for EA's rivals including the ESPN Videogames, Sega, and Take-Two. These companies have taken an impressive chunk of the Madden Football market with their Madden NFL series, and its low-cost price of $19.99.

It is possible that the deal will affect consumers in a negative way too. With less options, the theories of competition will no longer will be applicable. A few industry insiders suggest that the exclusive agreement was accepted by the NFL following its discovery that Take-Two lower the cost of its 2K5 model in the spring of this year. Licensors do not like to have a price war engaged with its brand's reputation at risk. In the same way exclusive licenses in the world of sports are typical than licenses that are nonexclusive. Its NFL apparel licensing is an exclusive Reebok exclusive and so is its beverage license that is partnered with Gatorade.

Today, Take-Two issued the following statement: "While sports games in general constitute a significant element of Take-Two's diversification strategy however, our licensed NFL game that we distributed for Sega this year has not significant to our financial performance to date and was not expected to be a significant contributor in the coming year. We will continue to work towards diversification of our portfolio of products and include sports."

"We consider that the decisions taken by players and leagues like the National Football League and PLAYERS INC to give an exclusive license to videogames is a huge harm to people who buy the games and who ultimately fund the NFL in the form of limiting their options, limiting imagination and most likely result in higher prices for games."

"I am very impressed with their work, but the customer really suffers," one analyst told MMOexp. "EA is evil, but very intelligent."

In the event of a dispute that could affect the quality of the future football products EA's vice president for corporate communication Jeff Brown told MMOexp, "The responsibility lies with EA to make an improved game every year...that's the challenge you need to conquer each year."

The latest game in Visual Concepts' respected Madden NFL franchise, Madden NFL 23, brings back an of the franchise's most important features. The most recent versions of Madden NFL 23 to the GameCube, PlayStation 5, and Xbox didn't have the online capabilities included within Madden NFL 23 for the Dreamcast version. It's good news that both PlayStation 5 and Xbox versions of Madden NFL 23 will include support for online gaming.
