Retro Jordan and sneaker shop Union have come together to create and release a unique capsule collection inspired by the late '80s early '90s. The collection will include two colorways of the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG along with T-shirts, sweatshirts and pants. While its more-limited counterpart opted for a primarily Storm Blue construction, this patched-together premium take on the sneaker that started it all equips Varsity Red and black panelling in the color blocking scheme of the famed "Black Toe" colorway, while its ankle collar ushers in a clean hit of Wolf Grey, harkening all the way back to the OG Natural Grey variety.
The Air Jordan 1 debuted in 1985 on the feet of an auspicious rookie named Michael Jordan. Featuring a clean design highlighted with the Wings Air Jordan logo on the ankle, the Air Jordan 1 would become one of the most famous silhouettes in sneaker history. Repping various colours from the Jordan archives, the high-profile sneaker hits the hardwood with years of practice under its belt; wrapped in black and white with red accents going for the final basket, while Union's LA-fuelled branding blends perfectly with Air Jordan’s winged basketball.
New Air Jordans 2019, Each of the AJ1s fuses together classic colorways with a noticeable stitch mark, evidence of a process that celebrates DYI culture and vintage hunting. According to Nike, Gibbs describes the inspiration as finding your most coveted pair of sneakers at the flea market, then elevating it by combining it with another pair to create a unique 1-of-1. Vintage to the core, Union LA brings back an all-time classic: the iconic Jordan 1. Running the retro high silhouette through a throwback filter, the Jordan icon has been deconstructed and re-stitched with rich leathers and suedes; weathered and worn for a finish that looks as if it's been passed down for generations.
