Secret places. The orb is a way to view many locations that are usually out of reach or located in areas that would normally be distant. Free players have access to their own areas of play and could find some fascinating information.

If a player logs out and logs back in at the very end of a dungeon area (such like the runecrafting altars) it is possible that the player can use the orb to look out into the other areas. Players cannot use the orb into Fist of Guthix. It will display the message: "You cannot use the orb for battle" in the event that you try to use it. The orb can also't be used within the Corporeal East's dungeons before you reach the end of summer.
Here is a list of located hidden spots that were discovered. It was possible to peer at the Tutorial Island bank from South of the Wizards' Tower however, there were no bankers.

You can see a snowy mountain at this area, which is in the area where the Tree Gnome Village is believed to be located at the top of the Watchtower after the completion of the Watchtower Quest, which could represent Eagle's Peak or simply a glitch.
The 2005 Christmas celebration is visible on East from the third space of Pyramid Plunder. The agility course of the 2007 Halloween event will be visible in the far East of the scarab room at Uzer Mastaba.
The 2010 Easter festivities is visible from the barbarian attack. If you're standing on the East-facing side of 4th floor in the Stronghold of Security and looking to East, you can see the original TzHaar Theatre, which was the venue for TzHaar-Hur's play and still uses the old TzHaar City graphics.
The Draynor Bank Robbery Cutscene section is located in the Burthorpe Games Room. The Path of Glouphrie Goblin war cut scene is on display on the East end of the room.
To the South-West of Sophanem's Bank, you will view the damaged version of the bank. It's only accessible in Contact.
In the South-East corner there is a part of a wall and a castle that appear to represent an area on the North end of the castle, during the time of the Holy Grail.
If you look as far to North-East as possible, you can see the portion of what appears to be the lower part of Saradomin's Encampment in the God Wars Dungeon.
If you'd like to go inside the Player Moderator's room, it is necessary to look to the South-East.
